We woke up today and went on a fun bus ("old school" bus - literally - except there were no windows) ride to the Amazon River. We got on a boat and road up the Amazon to visit the Bora Indians. Here the Bora Indians danced for us and then they invited up to dance with them. Bora Indian women don't wear much clothing. So when my dad was dancing between two of these women, it was quite amusing. After dancing, they showed ups trinkets they had made. They had blowguns, jewelry, purses, and other beautiful artwork.
Next up was the Serpentine. As we got off the boat and were walking inland, a sloth was there waiting to be held. We took turns holding this sloth and than....I saw my baby gorilla and fell in love. It was so adorable! I wanted to keep it forever. We were also able to hold a boa constrictor! SO COOL! One couple went to get their picture taken holding the snake, when the snake decided it needed to go and went to the bathroom all over her back. Snakes eat once a week and therefore usually only go to the bathroom once a week, so she got a weeks worth of waste on her. There was also this parrot that decided to peck Mom. :|
We got back on our boat and went up the Amazon to see if we could spot any pink dolphins. Unfortunately, we didn't see any. We rode back to the dock and waited for our buses by getting drinks at the local restaurant. The market place we passed as we were leaving had tons of fish covered with flies! Disgusting!
After a late lunch, we got on motortaxis and rode through town. We went to a Zoo where we saw lots of fun animals. Then we went and shopped for bloodwood (it's the hardest wood you can find) items.
There's a floating city, Belen, that wasn't floating because the water was too low, so we opted not to go. Instead we had a light dinner at the hotel and walked down the street for ice cream. YUMMY! Back at the hotel, I packed up, showered (I was super dirty), and got ready to leave in the early morning.
