Bree's Back and She's Better then Ever!

Bree and I have been friends for a while now. Our friendship began when we were roommates at BYU after meeting our freshmen years (over a decade ago!). She just returned home from serving a mission in Spokane, Washington and it had been a long time since I'd seen her. We've shared some fun times together over the years and I couldn't wait to see her again.

* As a side note* I love Bree and think she's amazing. She can sing, play the guitar, piano and drums, and she writes her own songs (even has her own CD). She wrote me a song years ago! She's also amazing at any sports she plays, especially frisbee though. In addition to this, Bree is just so fun to hang out with.

So Bree invited me to come up and join her for her first YSA dance after the mission. Since, I love YSA dances ( I actually can't stand them...i really just love Bree), I said I would go. So, after work on Friday, I dressed up and drove 2 hours up to York, PA.

This dance had to be one of the most entertaining YSA dances I've ever been to. Let's talk about a the oddest combination of people in the world all thrown together. I couldn't resist documenting it with pictures. (Though I still believe my first dance home after the mission may have been worse and why i don't like dances and SFM, but that's a whole another story.)

Here are the highlights of the evening:

1. My new boyfriend. We danced two magical slow songs. He spent the evening talking to me about football and telling stories about being "Lost in NY" like he was Macaulay Culkin. He also questioned me all night about what I'd do after we got married. For example, one of the questions was, "What would i do if he wore a football jersey to church the day after we got married?"Don't you think he's moving a little fast?

2. The elf

3. The awkward dancing - Yes...I even did some chair dancing.

4. Slow songs every other song - At least I got some good pictures of men in tight pants.

5. All the "normal" guys were waiting for their mission calls and younger than my youngest brother, who has been serving on his mission for 5 months.

6. The "old" priesthood leader (probably in his 70's), who told one of the guys to take a picture our back side instead of front side. (creepy!)

I don't think this list does justice to the awkwardness of this dance but i think you get the picture.

I'm so glad Bree is back and I can't wait to hang out with her more. Just no more dances, please!

Kansas City Temple Dedication

I have this fabulous friend that lives in Manhattan, Kansas going to Kansas State University. I have been really wanting to visit her for some time and I finally made it happen! The Kansas City Temple was going to be dedicated the first weekend in May and so what better time for me to come out. Friday Night, we went to a Jamaican restaurant in Manhattan. (Yes, they had one there...not expecting that!) You really felt like you were in Jamaica until you stepped out of the restaurant and realized you were in Manhattan, Kansas. After dinner, we went for a walk in Aggieville. The hang out olace in town. Yes, it was only 3 blocks long. We got ice cream sandwiches from Cold Stone. They were delicious and spent some time at one of the local bars until I got too tired and we decided to call it a night. Saturday Morning, we went walking around her neighborhood. The weather was amazing! Then we headed back to Kansas City for the cultural event. Along the way we...

Bowling League

About three months ago, my roommate decided to put together a bowling league. Even though I'm not a great bowler, I thought it would be fun to join. I bowled really well the first night but it was all downhill from the first evening. Throughout the league, we did have some fun bets going. This picture is the result of one. This is the result of a lost bet! The last night of bowling! The bowling shoes that brought success to most of us (not me) My awesome team!!! The winning team!!!

Trebek

Last Friday, I went and saw Jeopardy being filmed here in DC at the DAR Constitutional Hall. We were there for the Teen Tournament. During the commercial breaks, Alex Trebek would answer questions. I was surprised how genuine he was. He really loves his job. We also saw him make a mistake, which apparently was the first time in a while. They were sure quite what to do because he read the answer in the questions. They ended up stopping the filming and coming up with a new question. What a fun experience!
