Dating advice from Elementary School Students

So I'm getting a little older (not that old really) and I'm still not married. This is becoming a growing concern for the students I teach. I always thought it would be my parents that cared but NO....IT'S a BUNCH OF 3RD and 4TH graders that are extremely worried about my future.

During Math class, several students have made comments about how I need to go back to college to find a husband. (Been there, done that....didn't work). Though I do find it interesting that 4th graders perceive college as the time in life when you should find a husband.

I think over the past week I've gotten some good advice. Let me know what you think. Do you think I should try it?

Last week's advice:
  • Sway my hips when I walk
  • Laugh out loud
  • Dress hipper
  • Look younger (apparently I don't look young enough)
  • Tell them my mother is 30 ( that way they'll think I'm younger. Personally I think they would just want to date my mom instead of me!)
  • Laugh ever time I hear the word pizza
Today's advice:
Boys dig sick girls
Boy dig this....
  • try to fly
  • get a mowhawk (that's how she wrote it)
  • they love crying girls
  • yell out, I'm desperate
  • Carry a monkey on my shoulder and a crab in my hand
  • curvy hips
  • eat unhealthy foods
  • kiss him when he does the jive
  • love me (meaning I should love her)Looks like the advice just keeps getting better and better. I can't wait for next week's advice. I'm definitely going to have to start trying some of these! Which should I try first?

I had a second grade boy give me lots of birthing advice. And after I had the baby, he said, "I told you so."

Kansas City Temple Dedication

I have this fabulous friend that lives in Manhattan, Kansas going to Kansas State University. I have been really wanting to visit her for some time and I finally made it happen! The Kansas City Temple was going to be dedicated the first weekend in May and so what better time for me to come out. Friday Night, we went to a Jamaican restaurant in Manhattan. (Yes, they had one there...not expecting that!) You really felt like you were in Jamaica until you stepped out of the restaurant and realized you were in Manhattan, Kansas. After dinner, we went for a walk in Aggieville. The hang out olace in town. Yes, it was only 3 blocks long. We got ice cream sandwiches from Cold Stone. Bowling League

About three months ago, my roommate decided to put together a bowling league. Even though I'm not a great bowler, I thought it would be fun to join. I bowled really well the first night but it was all downhill from the first evening. Throughout the league, we did have some fun bets going. This picture is the result of one. Trebek

Last Friday, I went and saw Jeopardy being filmed here in DC at the DAR Constitutional Hall. We were there for the Teen Tournament. During the commercial breaks, Alex Trebek would answer questions. I was surprised how genuine he was. He really loves his job. We also saw him make a mistake, which apparently was the first time in a while. They were sure quite what to do because he read the answer in the questions. They ended up stopping the filming and coming up with a new question. What a fun experience!
